Energy savings calculator
By making small changes to your energy use around the home, you can cut your energy consumption and keep your energy bill in check.
The energy savings calculator shows you how much energy you use for key items around the home, such as lighting. It then calculates how much energy (and money) you'll save by adopting energy efficient practices or products*. For example, you can calculate how much energy and money you'll save by switching to energy efficient lighting.
Click on the images below to calculate what you could be saving.
*All calculations include GST.
| air conditioner |
lighting | shower | clothes dryer |
refrigerator |
Using the calculator, you can also work out how much you'll save by:
- setting your air conditioner to a higher temperature in the warmer months
- using an energy saving showerhead
- using a clothes line instead of a clothes dryer
- switching off your spare fridge(s) when not in use.
Calculator tips
- Energy savings are calculated based on current government-regulated tariffs. If you are on a market contract with your electricity retailer, the dollar savings you could achieve may vary.
- If you are unsure which tariff you are on, check your electricity bill or call your electricity retailer.
