Energy efficiency and conservation

The Queensland Government is investing $45 million in energy conservation programs. Run in conjunction with Ergon and ENERGEX, these programs are designed to help reduce Queensland´s peak electricity demand, which is the primary driver of electricity price increases.

There are many ways in which your business can become more energy efficient. Find out more on the Office of Clean Energy website.

Queensland Energy Management Plan

The Queensland Energy Management Plan (QEMP) is a roadmap to help manage electricity growth in a more cost effective manner through a range of initiatives that will engage electricity customers, electricity distributors and the broader community. A key focus of the QEMP is to ease upward pressure on electricity prices by slowing the current trend of rapid growth in electricity use and peak demand.

ecoBIZ program

The Department of Environment and Resource Management also administers the ecoBIZ program which helps Queensland businesses adopt energy efficient practices that are good for the financial bottom-line as well as for the environment.

Smart Energy Savings Program

The Queensland Government's Smart Energy Savings Program (SESP) is a legislative initiative introduced through the Clean Energy Act 2008 to drive energy saving improvements in Queensland businesses. The program requires participating businesses to undertake an energy audit, develop an Energy Savings Plan and publish their actions for each relevant site, on a five-yearly cycle.
