New electricity pricing and tariff structures for 2012-13
The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) is currently developing a new system for electricity pricing in Queensland that changes the way consumers are charged for the electricity they use.
For residential customers, the changes will include new electricity tariffs that:
- reward consumers for lowering their electricity use
- provide incentives for consumers to shift electricity use outside of peak demand hours.
The QCA will finalise the new structure, including new electricity tariffs by
31 May 2012. The new tariffs will apply to all Queensland electricity bills from 1 July 2012.
