The Wyaralong Water Treatment Plant at Cedar Grove is a key component of the State Government's long-term strategy to increase water security and reliability for the Logan and Scenic Rim communities.
When complete, the plant will treat water from various sources along the Logan River including Bromelton Off-Stream Storage, Cedar Grove Weir and Wyaralong Dam.
It will treat up to 75 megalitres per day and provide an additional 26,000 megalitres of water per year to the local community through these sources.
Designs for the new plant have been completed in readiness for construction, which will commence when an increase in regional supply capacity is required to meet the community's needs. With the Logan and Scenic Rim communities continuing to prosper, it is expected that the new plant will be needed after 2014.
The new plant will be delivered by partnership between Seqwater and the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation.
