Background

The Queensland Government committed $7 million to upgrade the existing passenger terminal building at the Whitsunday Coast Airport (previously known as the Proserpine Airport).

Earthworks commenced in mid-October 2010 and demolition works in November 2010. The upgraded terminal was officially opened on Tuesday 20 December 2011.
