Waratah Coal Corridor-Rail Project The rail corridor will run from the proposed China First Coal Project, near Alpha in the Galilee Basin, to the Port of Abbot Point, north of Bowen. A roughly 468 km heavy gauge standard railway line that will transport up to 40 million tonnes per annum (initially 25mtpa) of coal from the mine to the port for export. The rail system includes a marshalling and refuelling yard, passing loops and maintenance sidings. This facility is also a significant project for which an EIS is required. 1 July 2011 Decision pending
Gladstone LNG project Gas fields: central Queensland. Gas pipeline: from the gas fields to Curtis Island, near Gladstone. Liquefaction plant and export terminal: Curtis Island, near Gladstone. Integrated liquefied natural gas project comprising gas fields, a 420 km underground gas transmission pipeline, and a gas liquefaction and export facility (up to 10 million tonnes per annum). This facility is also a significant project for which an EIS is required. 3 June 2011 Decision pending
