Southern Moreton Bay Marine Infrastructure Master Plan

The Southern Moreton Bay Marine Infrastructure Master Plan is a Queensland Government initiative that, when finalised, will:

  • provide the marine industry with certainty about the future locations of industry and infrastructure development in the area between the Southport Broadwater and southern Moreton Bay
  • provide assurance that developing in accordance with the master plan would assist in streamlining the approvals process and provide for timely decision making.

During 2008–09, Queensland Government agencies worked closely with the marine industry, infrastructure proponents and other key stakeholders to develop the draft Southern Moreton Bay Marine Infrastructure Master Plan.
The draft master plan and supporting documents indentify the:

  • potential locations for future marine-related infrastructure development
  • attributes of the potential locations
  • issues which would need to be considered when weighing up any development in those locations.

The draft master plan has been completed and is expected to be released for public comment in April 2012.
