Major resource projects housing policy

In their social impact management plans, resource project proponents must explain how they intend to mitigate their projects' impacts on housing and accommodation in local communities.

The Queensland Government has developed a Major Resource Projects Housing Policy to help project proponents:

  • identify and assess their projects' accommodation and housing impacts
  • develop mitigation and management strategies.

Core principles

The policy contains seven core principles covering:

  • Growth management and liveable resource communities
  • Environmental and social impact assessment
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Housing, planning, infrastructure and environmental sustainability
  • Project workforce accommodation
  • Housing market impacts
  • Cumulative impacts.
