Description The Queensland Government is assessing a proposal to develop the Aerospace and Defence Support Centre – Amberley (ADSC-A), a 183-hectare master planned, high technology hub at Amberley for industries focused on defence services, aerospace and leading edge defence technologies.

Project overview

On 24 January 2012, the Queensland Government announced that a team comprising KPMG, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Suters Architects was successful in the competitive tender process to prepare the business case and master plan for ADSC-A.

The ADSC-A master plan and business case should provide the "reference design" for the project, which will enable government to make an informed decision regarding whether to invest in the project. The master plan and business case should be presented to government in early 2013.

A development application seeking preliminary development approval overriding the planning scheme under the Integrated Planning Act 1997 was granted by the Ipswich City Council on 24 June 2010.

Project vision

The vision for the proposed project is to:

  • position Queensland as a national leader in the aerospace and defence industries
  • create a commercially oriented cluster of defence industry support companies and organisations capable of servicing and supporting existing and future opportunity markets within the aerospace and defence industry
  • position the facility as the premier destination in South East Queensland for organisations seeking to provide services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), particularly those enterprises that will provide support to Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley - one of Australia's future ADF mega bases.
