Activities

Key activities undertaken under the industrial land facilitation function include:

• providing strategic land use planning advice to facilitate industrial and economic growth opportunities throughout the state
• identifying and preserving strategic sites for future economic development activities
• undertaking innovative planning on departmental industrial land holdings to optimise outcomes for the state and the department, provide catalyst land use and infrastructure facilities to private sector industrial development and accommodate industry sector requirements which may be otherwise poorly serviced
• providing technical planning expertise and advice to inform infrastructure corridor planning and protection
• undertaking economic planning, incorporating demand studies for specific industry sectors and associated employment generation, which inform strategic industrial land supply policy, industrial land acquisition and development programs
• coordinating multi-agency input to address cross-regional land use issues and policies
• project managing major industrial land planning and infrastructure projects
• monitoring availability and location of industrial land supplies via the Industrial Land Monitoring programs
• developing industrial land policy supporting the appropriate provision for and protection of industrial land supplies
• providing strategic direction for the use and development of the department's industrial land portfolio and assisting the department's Property Services Group with the preparation of its annual Capital Works Program.
